This book is probably my favourite account of history. Normally I love to read historical fiction, but Nadler, being a journalist in the former Yugoslavia, met an Albanian man with an ambitious and politically deadly aim--to find the woman whose father he believed had organized a massacre to his village some years earlier. They were in love, and she a Serb. Although I said that I love historical fiction, I don't mean to treat these individuals as mere objects of entertainment. This review is not to profane the real human experiences that Nadler captures, but from knowing nothing about their political history, I learned a lot about the Bosnia war through these narratives. Also, Nadler is a good writer--I mean it. If he wasn't a journalist, I think he'd make an excellent career in (any?) writing field.… (plus d'informations)
