I was interested in the roots of D.C. vice, especially the geography of historic sin in the District. It's a tough slog for that, though you do get the overall picture that the 1950's nexus of sin was roughly in the vicinity of what today is Penn Quarter. It has since moved decidedly uptown!
I was actually led to this from the bibliography in Mark Opsasnick's Capitol Rock, which had an oddly conservative tone that I couldn't quite put my finger on. Now it makes more sense.
Marginally interesting, but most of a progressive bent will find it too infuriating to have much utility and its "entertainment value" wears off quickly.… (plus d'informations)
