Honeymoon Hoax is the story of Cameron Hines and Brad Taylor, BFF’s since they were young. This is told in first person from both Cam’s and Brad’s povs.

Brad’s been left at the altar. He’s upset because he can’t go on the honeymoon cruise which he’d really been looking forward to, and which is non-refundable. One of his friends suggests marrying Cameron, who just so happens to have the exact same name as the ex-fiance. Brad, who is up for any crazy thing, thinks it’s a great idea. Him and Cam are best buddies and get along great. Cam is not thrilled with the idea, but he’s always gone along with Brad’s schemes. What’s one more? Besides, Cam has been in love with Brad almost forever, even though Brad is straight. Brad however is okay with having a gay experimental honeymoon and when they get back the two can divorce and go back to being friends. But for Cam that will be impossible. He loves Brad too much and grows to love him even more as the trip goes on.

This is a very quick read. The scenes aren’t very deep. Just enough to give an idea of what the author wanted to convey. Besides the scenes being short, the wording of the story is rather abrupt too, quickly jumping from one scene to the other and skimming the surface of emotions and events. It’s still a fluffy story and leaves the reader feeling good.

Both Cam and Brad sounded like the same person when speaking from their pov. But when observing the other character, it was much easier to get an idea what the other MC was like. Which makes me think that this story would have been better written in third person. Cam is responsible, orderly and tends to keep his feelings to himself. Brad is outgoing, expressive and not afraid to try new things. A definite extrovert. He was looking forward to having sex with Cam, but Brad does something to upset Cam and then needs to make an apology. Brad is rather clueless.

In terms of editing, there were numerous missing words that the author might want to check over again if there’s a second edition. The last quarter of the book also seemed to have more of a 'chic-lit' feel to it too.

Honeymoon Hoax is a quick, fluffy read if you’re looking for something to pass the time. I give this book 3 Stars.

Rant When will authors stop trying to "normalize" asexual/allosexual relationships with sex? I know, I know, there are aces who will pleasure their partners quite happily and some really do enjoy kink, etc., but not all of us want sex in our relationships. Please realize that there are a wide variety of aces. /rant.

Overall, this is a surprisingly sweet romance between Brendan and Lucas. I liked their relationship and that Lucas was more than happy to keep to cuddling and kisses makes him a great person. I could have lived happily without the love scene though - that could have been a nice fade to black moment. Thankfully, the rest of such scenes do happen off screen and we can enjoy the rest of their relationship without interruptions. The epilogue was a tad too sweet and the ending could have been part of the actual story in my opinion.

Chad Chambers, Lucas ex-boyfriend, proves just how prejudices and discrimination has hurt relations between the LGBT and ace communities. The author did do his homework, almost to the point of lifting dialogue straight, ahem, off of news comments sections and probably a number of blogs and posts dedicated to the ace community. Not that I'm complaining. The more people who see these things, the better so we can actually have open dialogue across the board without the ridiculous accusations. (I am not, in any way, downplaying the trials, turmoil, and work the LGBT communities have gone through to make life better for themselves and others. I do think we should be able to work together to spread that joy to everyone regardless of their orientation.)

We are a welcoming oranization - to those folks who've actually experienced discrimination. Which doesn't include so-called asexuals. Face it, you're just a straight guy who wants to feel special. You've never known a minuted of discrimination, and for you to try to co-opt a group that's been fighting oppression for decades is just plain disgusting.

The irony in this statement is that poor Brendan, who has just admitted to being asexual, is in fact experiencing a form of discrimination.
Well played Mr. Morgan. Well played.
