Courte biographie: Morgan grew up on a ranch just outside Grove, Oklahoma. She was the Grove Roundup Club's Rodeo Queen when she was 15 years old -- and she still likes to wear boots and jeans. She's a descendant of The Dalton brothers, which may or may not explain her bent for things western. Morgan picked up her basic knowledge of criminal investigation while she was Chief Dispatcher for a city police department in northeastern Oklahoma, and as permit clerk and dispatcher for the Oklahoma Highway Patrol. While with OHP, she could fire 12 rounds in under 15 seconds using a handgun, and scored 93% target-shooting with a rifle from a cruiser (had to exit cruiser and use door as shield while firing through open window). She and Loren Estleman live on 120 acres in Michigan, in a home that reflects their shared love for antiques. Morgan enjoys photographing other authors and many of those photos have appeared nationally in magazines, newspapers, and on book jackets.

An accomplished poker player, Morgan's been known to match skills with such luminaries as Sara Paretsky, Lawrence Block, and Parnell Hall at the Bouchercon World Mystery Convention.

Morgan has a son, a daughter, a grandson, and a granddaughter.

I listened to the audio version of this book. The characters were flat and the prose struck me as amateurish. Maybe this writer develops in later books but I would pass on this one.

The weedless widow par Deborah Morgan

A former FBI agent now an antiques picker is among those discovering the body of the bait shop owner near their fishing retreat. The female sheriff has suffered a recent bout with cancer but is back on the job and a quite likeable character. As the plot deepens and circumstances really heat up, Jeff calls in his former mentor and partner to assist. The main issue with this one was plausibility (in some places) for me. It held my interest, and the use of antique fishing lures made it unique. Technology is probably what dated this novel most. No one uses "Ask Jeeves" anymore and the site became known as ask.com. Still today's users would "google" it. Cell phone technology evolved since this one was written as well. It has been many years since I read the first in this series. The marriage casket par Deborah Morgan

Ex-FBI agent Jeff Talbot is now an antique picker. When he begins work on his latest acquisition, the contents of the house of a deceased hoarder, he finds a suspicious bloodstain suggesting that the her death was not an accident as thought. The story, a cozy mystery, is set in Seattle and helped along by the antique trade background and his home life with an agoraphobic wife, a zany sister-in-law, and an inherited mansion complete with butler.

The Weedless Widow (Antique Lover's Mysteries (Prime… par Deborah Morgan

Deborah Morgan’s THE WEEDLESS WIDOW (Berkley Prime Crime), is her #2 entry in her Antique Lover’s Mysteries series. The series stars Jeff Talbot as an ex-FBI agent currently in the antiques business. This book would be classified as a “cozy mystery”.

Being that I’ve been interested in antiques forever and am well on my way to becoming one myself, I was hooked by the book’s description. In this episode, Talbot attends a getaway weekend fly-fishing with three friends at a cabin that one of them owns. When he gets to the local bait shop he finds the owner dead on the floor. Antique fishing lures are missing from the dead man’s collection. Several locals have motives and opportunity so Talbot takes it upon himself to begin investigating.

This isn’t fine literature but I did enjoy the discussions of antiques. Don’t take the book too seriously; there are flaws in the credibility of a couple of scenarios. If you want a quick read and also like antiques then this would be a good book choice.

I liked the book insofar as I needed something light to read between the more complex books in my book bag (600-page fantasies) and this one included a subject treasured by me. Recommended.… (plus d'informations)
