David Mohrhardt

An excellent book on how to paint songbirds! Mohrhardt carefully demonstrates, step-by-step, how he uses watercolor to paint a chickadee, a cedar waxwing, and a meadowlark. He then provides drawings, notes, and colored photos of various other birds.

My biggest complaint is that the birds selected are for the eastern US and I live in California. Minor point, since the demos can be adapted to the birds of the western US. Another complaint is that the book has a substantial section on watercolor techniques in general. Almost every book on watercolor painting has this same material. Mohrhardt could have skipped this and included more birds.… (plus d'informations)
