As for the actual diary, there are a few good anecdotes about the making of the movie, but not nearly enough. You don't get a sense of what working on the movie was actually like, but you do get a good glimpse at what a dick Matthew Modine is (or was)--mostly I'm thinking about the scene with a prostitute that was cut. The prostitute was to lay on top of him, and Modine refused to have her "bare vagina" touching him on the back, claiming that it could contaminate him with... AIDS. In the end, he convinced a horrified Kubrick to put a washrag between her "mucus membrane" and his skin. Whatever. Soon after that Modine is fed up with the long shooting schedule and frustrated that he lost parts in other movies and just bails out on his diary.
