I was engrossed. The story did remind me some of Kiss The Girls. I was caught up in it though from the first page. There was a twist that was a surprise for me. I don’t want to go into that so I don’t give anything away. It’s fiction so I am not bothered by things that would bother me in non-fiction. For instance the short amount of time to rise up in law enforcement ranks. I’m being told a story that I know is untrue. How well I enjoy it depends on if the teller sucks me in to the world he has made. The author sucked me in with the first chapter. I am eager to continue on with the next book in this series.… (plus d'informations)

I became a fan of this series after listening to an audiobook copy of the ninth book, so when the option to receive a copy of the tenth book happened, I hopped on it. And I was not disappointed!

This book had everything wonderful about the previous book—action, suspense, drama—but it was blended with the mystery of the Zodiac killer. After Jack’s last journey, he’s in a bit of trouble. He doesn’t expect to come across a killer using the Zodiac’s MO, and he certainly doesn’t expect it to end in a final showdown.

I loved all the detail and research that went into this book. Every part from the Zodiac murders, to the ciphers, to the details of Alcatraz island were very well written which helped to further emerge me into the story. The characters are well-fleshed out, and I was happy to see that Jack Winchester remained his usual a**hole self and emerged the hero.

As with the last book, the narration added to the tension of the story.

Fantastic installment to the series.

I really liked this mob story. It was different than most of this type because it showed how a young teen (Jack) got involved with a New Jersey crime family and stayed with them for about 20 years, becoming a hit man. After 4 years in prison, he decided he wanted out of that life but the mob boss wanted him to do one more job first. He was told it would be a quick in and out job, but it wasn't. All he had to do was get the man and the money, but neither were there. Just the man's wife and son. As Jack tried to find out what they knew about where the man and money were, he fell in love with the woman.

This is a great story. It's well written with a unique plot and terrific characters. Even though Jack did terrible things for the mob he was a good man. He was very kind to Dana and her son. It was unsettling when Jack wanted out of that life but people tried to stop him. I couldn't help feeling sorry for him. The Debt Collector was a great book with an amazing ending.

If you like crime thrillers, you should read this book.
