This is one of my favorite books from elementary school; I signed it out of the school library so often that the librarian had to limit me! I was fascinated by the idea of a young girl traveling to the wilderness with only her father. Her enthusiasm and excitement....it all caught my imagination. To me, she was an older Trixie Belden in search of a new life. I recently bought my own copy to read for old memories...it still has that magic that I loved as a ten year old.

This book follow's Julie's adventures as she heads with her carpenter father to the wild frontier in Twin Falls, Idaho as the community is just being settled. The accurate descriptions of landmarks, landscape, living conditions, and the history provide a unique and creative insight into the settlement of this area. Especially interesting for kids and teens from the area.
