It tells of the fairy tale life she lived on her family estates, and the hard years of work during the Revolution.

A good portion of the book also covers the courtship and marriage of her parents, who were forty-eight years apart in age. In fact, her father died before her birth. Her mother was a professional singer with a brilliant career ahead of her on the world stage before she met the Prince. After her marriage, she never performed professionally again.
