Robert Gordon Menzies (1894–1978)

I enjoyed learning about one of Australia’s great political leaders, when initially, I didn’t think I would. The letters, judiciously edited by his daughter Heather Henderson, portray a very human family man. The love and concern for his daughter shine through. They have a unique, strong emotional connection with each other.
I skimmed through most of the political goings on, but it is interesting to read of his forthright opinions of his partners and opponents in battle.
An insightful encounter with a real statesman. Politics have certainly gone downhill since he left office.
