I was drawn in from the start and found it hard to set this down for even a moment. Menard does an amazing job of bringing the world to life around the reader, allowing you to step into this dark, steampunk world. I absolutely loved Camilla, she's a great FMC and Nico...let's just say keep a cool drink handy while reading. The story itself isn't very spicy, but there's just something about him that gets your heart racing. I loved the tension and how smoothly and quickly the plot flows, making it easy to keep turning pages. The ending absolutely killed me, and I cannot wait to get my hands on book two...… (plus d'informations)

I loved book one, and was really looking forward to book two - it did not disappoint! Menard weaves a tale of myth and magic around the reader with vivid descriptions, unforgettable characters, and a plot that keeps you turning pages as you eagerly discover what will happen next. Ailsa and Vali are great MCs, and work so well together. You can't help but like them. The world-building is great, and I love how Menard puts her own twist on Norse mythology, making it something both familiar and new at the same time. If you haven't read book one, you'll want to grab this before diving into this one, but together they make an unforgettable story!… (plus d'informations)

This is a very fun read! The plot is nicely paced out and twists are not there for twists sake but rather move the story forward. The author manages to not only keep reader interest but encourage it with each development. The dialogue is fun and the main character is charismatic though interactions with outs can seem awkward at times. A good read and great start to the series.

Well, it's a fun book. Overall, I enjoyed it. I laughed at some of the dialogue, and the story idea was original and thought-provoking, even as I anticipated some of the twists. I enjoy a quick romp of a read, and this fell nicely into that category. Even though it's almost cliche at this point, I enjoy a good, strong heroine who can kick a** and have witty comebacks. I do have a couple of issues, though. The chemistry between the main characters felt forced and their... connection, I suppose is the word, just sort of *poof* here it is. I felt like there needed to be another couple of chapters toward the beginning just to develop their relationship. I'm also not a fan of using jealousy or emotional manipulation to push forward a relationship, but that may just be a pet peeve, along with every character being gorgeous and chiseled. And the big "romance" scene was... fine? Maybe I've been spoiled by some good bodice rippers in my time. BUT all that to say, it was a fun quick read!… (plus d'informations)
