Shepherd Mead was a successful advertising executive whose principal claim to fame was his satirical how-to book, about corporate success. "How to Succeed in Business without really trying". it was fast paced and slick, just like the career described and quite funny. "Dudley is a vision of American suburban life, a proto "Catch 22" for those in he rat race. It is slick anfd often amusing. The title promises more adultery than the text presents.

A follow-up to his monster Hit "How To Get Rich in Business With Really Trying" Mr. Mead produced this look at another area of the American Dream of the 1950's. Far ranging, and just short of libelous Mead visits the areas of Commercial filming and success, (He was an adman), Action heroing, and, being a properly grave News anchor. It is quite amusing as some of these themes can still be played today.

I haven't seen the stage play, but I watched the Robert Morse movie multiple times. The book is also very good, and despite its age, has some relevance in today's business world. If you like Dilbert, you'll love this.

A little long at times but definitely a fun book for those who are working on the musical.
