Maureen McTigue's comprehensive guide to customs and celebrations in Star Trek reads like intergalactic version of Post's etiquette manual -- perfect for when you're scratching your head about what to whip up for a Klingon feast or the proper protocol for a Bajoran wedding.
It's fun.
It's quirky.
It's dated.
While comprehensive, it is only complete if you don't consider the two new Star Trek series (Discovery and Strange New Worlds) canon. You won't find information on Starfleet Remembrance Day, the Vulcan V'Shal ceremonial engagement dinner, or Zhian'Tara, the Trill rite of passage. However, you will learn more than you ever wanted to know about customs and traditions with anything published before 2001.
McTigue has done her homework, compiling info from every corner of the Star Trek universe. It's a nostalgic (and quick) ride through the series and movies we love, sprinkled with non-canon gems for the hardcore fans.
In short, Star Trek: Celebrations is your go-to guide for navigating the social customs of the Final Frontier. Highly recommended to complete a bookshelf.… (plus d'informations)
