The first in 'The Dragon Charmers' series. Apprentice Logan and the elderly absent minded wizard Zarad live in the Kingdom of the Dragons, Shanoria. Logan seems to have little wizarding ability. He is friends with a dragon charmer, Alyxa. Her abilities allow the dragons to come under human command and be used for transporting them about. There are three colours of dragon in Shanoria; yellow, green, and blue. The dragons periodically require re-charming to keep them bespelled. The fierce red dragons from the Mountains of Fire often raid Shanoria, carrying off young boys, and this time they make off with the crown prince. The king demands Zared
rescue the prince but Zared seems to have lost his sense of reality. It is left to Logan to try casting a ‘seeing spell.’ There is one ingredient they must locate – a white dragon’s heart. They set off for the mountains to find a white dragon called Silverhorn. Eventually they end up in the red dragon-controlled city of Radolk Falls where more danger as well as a volanco awaits. A fast paced adventure.
