Typographers on Type: An Illustrated Anthology from… par Ruari McLean
Although he describes himself as retired, he continues to write and publish.
Somewhat overtaken by events now in parts, but the history and general principles of typographic design are still entirely sound and extremely useful. Written in a very approachable and witty style, too.
