Good-ish. I've read enough cook related novels and memoirs so the language, smoking, and after work drinking, etc., is not a surprise---at least this is sort of "story book" escapism -- and I liked the ending.

Like he first novel, Girl Cook, MB is a job-based book. I couldn't get into the characters much, and I'm still not quite sure what the story was. But the insights into the daily life of a snow bum were interesting enough. I bought this book because I was afraid its premise might be very close to my own MS, but they couldn't be more different. And that made me happy.

There are a few hot topics that get me to alrady have a positive outlook on a book. One of them is cooks/chefs. This is a very angry book about the realities of a female culinarian and sports a very nicely drawn cast of characters. I read it in a day. ^_^
