Robert R. McCammon is a popular horror fiction writer. He was born in 1952 in Birmingham, Alabama and attended the University of Alabama. After college he spent a number of years working in advertising for bookstores in Birmingham, where he still lives. McCammon's first novel, "Baal," was published afficher plus in 1978. He quickly joined the group of horror writers that includes Stephen King, Dean R. Koontz, and Anne Rice, who write suspenseful stories with modern-day settings. He has published over two dozen books to date. With the publication of "Boy's Life" in 1991, McCammon left behind the horror genre, noting that he finds real life horrifying enough these days. Swan Song par Robert McCammon

Ils sont rares ces romans qui ont le pouvoir de faire disparaitre le monde qui nous entoure lorsqu'on les ouvre, mais c'est le cas pour cette brique de 886 pages. Nous sommes toutefois chanceux de ne pas basculer entièrement dans l'univers post-apocalyptique du livre, particulièrement effrayant. Après une guerre nucléaire, le monde tel qu'on le connait n'est plus. Désolation, mort et famine règnent, rendant la survie difficile. Mais les quelques survivants, dont la jeune Swan, ne perdent pas espoir d'un jour voir le monde renaitre de ses cendres. Dommage que Swan Song n'ait jamais été traduit en français, je le recommanderais certainement à mon entourage. Certaines facettes de l'histoire, comme le combat entre le bien et le mal, ainsi que la figure du mal incarné sous la forme d'un voyageur solitaire, rappellent de près l'oeuvre de Stephen King (sans en avoir selon moi tout le génie et la cohérence). Toutefois, c'est certainement l'un des meilleurs romans post-apocalytiques que j'ai pu lire.… (plus d'informations)
