If your daughter was a fan of Junie B. Jones when she was a child, as a teen she might enjoy this book by Katie Maxwell. This epistolary novel is told primarily via emails from the protagonist, Emily, to her best friend back in the States. Emily is doing a work-study project on a sheep farm in Scotland and she is a fish out of water. Hilarity ensues. At heart, it is a sweet book about friendship and romance. Lots of fun!

I'm sorry to say that this book didn't wow me. It was just ok. A few funny moments but not much else.

I've read a lot of Katie's adult Dark Ones books, so it was strange reading one for teens. That said, I liked it. I felt like it was a little superficial, like it just skimmed the surface. I wanted to know more about Fran, Ben, and all the other characters. Plus the whole Ben is 312 and Fran is 16 thing is a little weird if you think about it.

A cutesy vampire story. Not particularly amazing but cute enough. A good, quick read for people to like vampire stories.
