Bailey’s Granny Bee and the Honeybuzz Mountain Ranch in Humble Hills, Colorado are hosting a baking competition and other festivities. All is fun and games until the celebrity emcee gets himself murdered and Bailey's BFF is the prime suspect. Let the sleuthing begin and the grannies do their thing. Good laughs in an interesting series with great characters and some inventive sleuthing.

An old fashioned romance, this is one of those books you can breathe in in a weekend.

Brody and Elle are widower and widow, both young and hot and struggling with their grief over losing the love of their life. There isn't much story other than this, as the two find the courage to expose their hearts. It's a very easy read, if a touch unsatisfying because almost everything about it seems more contrived that one expects in the contemporary novel these days. But the fact that it is so easy to read, with enough to pull you along, has got to be due to some degree to Jennie Marts' writing skills.

I haven't heard of her before but she's written 6 series, usually around cowboys, and is linked to two other writers I haven't heard of, Carolyn Brown and Kari Lynn Dell.

A Cowboy Country Christmas by Jennie Marts
Book 6 of the Creedence Horse Rescue series, a spinoff of The Cowboys of Creedence series. Contemporary western romance. Can be read as a stand-alone, but family and couples from prior books appear briefly in the final chapter of this book.
Holt Callahan is a Christmas holiday Grinch. He’s been dumped at Christmas more than once. Lainey McBride is the exact opposite. She loves the holidays and has come home to run the Christmas event at the family farm while her grandfather is away. Lainey and Holt fall into old childhood patterns of spending their time together and soon find their hearts involved. But they haven’t discussed what happened back when she first left town, both of them heartbroken.

Sentimental and touching. But they needed to talk about the past! Heartwarming family ending. Love the little goat and the donation they received for future care of it.

I love knowing how the hero feels:
“Her nearness could send jittery nerves spiraling through his stomach that made him feel like a love-crazed teenager”.

I received a copy of this from NetGalley.

A great first in series introduction to mystery writer Bailey, her daughter Daisy and the Hive, her beekeeper grandmother and her ‘book club’. The cast is likeable, the setting charming and there’s secrets galore still lingering after the shocking conclusion of book one making me want to dive into a sequel!
