I'm enjoying this book very much! I'm teaching myself to crochet and find the pictures, symbols and pointers very helpful. I would recommend finding some good YouTube videos to supplement, though. As a knitter, I understand most of the techniques already described, too. I'm not sure how a complete newbie would interpret this guide.

I'm a very visual person when it comes to learning new crafts and the combination of this book and the videos has been tremendously helpful. If you want to learn crochet and know a thing or two about needle art, check out this book!… (plus d'informations)

This is an enjoyable, light hearted, romp through the world of small town opera. Hankey is a small town in the Philadelphia rust belt with an ailing opera company. When planning their annual opera, the volunteers who form the opera guild know they must pull off a successful event or close the company. They are planning to stage Don Giovanni but events keep working against them. After the tenor recruited for the star role meets with a sticky end they recruit an up and coming tenor with loads of swoon appeal, a real Don Juan, but his attraction to the fair sex threatens to lead him into trouble.

There are many characters and plots recognisable from the world of opera (as reflected by the titles of the chapters) and the cover lives up to its promise with the story delivering seduction (aplenty!), ghosts, humor, romance and madness amongst the music. The dramas and romances of the story are also very operatic and the story wraps up in a most satisfactory way.
