A pretty decent sports romance, the main drawback being the annoying over-use of "cute" hashtags... That aside, this was a fast, breezy read in which the two main characters spend most of the book together as an actual couple. I found this refreshing because so many times there is too much conflict up front and the angst-o-meter has to reach nuclear levels before we are allowed to see a couple happily spending time together. The third-act conflict which temporarily blows up the relationship is reasonably believable, though I'm not sure the resolution really passes the smell test for rational action. But whatever. It's escapist fun.

Collins and Nate were best friends growing up. But, then Nate ghosted her. She has never forgiven him, and she hates him. Now, Collins have moved back to Ohio after a failed relationship in CA, her ex stole her story/script and sold it as his own. Collins had an epic meltdown that was captured on video.
Now in OH, Nate and Collins have a run in over the community HOA. Both decide to run for president, Collins mainly to get on Nate's nerves. The HOA aspect was hilarious. I loved the sarcastic comments about HOAs and also MLM schemes. Martin writes what we are all thinking!
It's a rom-com, so we know where things will end, but the path forward is a good one. The tension between Collins and Nate, and the lengths she takes to get under his skin is so over-the-top, you have to laugh. But once they get together-their relationship ignites! There are a few hurdles to overcome, but it is an enjoyable read and a satisfying rom-com, with lots of laughs.

“Ohio is doing weird things to me.”

I struggled with this one...probably because it brought back so many memories of growing up in a small town in Ohio where everyone knew everyone else’s business and...there was that one someone that drove me completely insane, then became my other half...only to disappear on me in the course of three years. Could I picture our reunion going as outlandishly as Collin’s and Nate’s? Absolutely! Add me to the list of fans of this author!
