Mireille Marokvia (1908–2008)

Author Mireille Marokvia was born in France in 1908. She attended the Sorbonne where she studied French, literature, and philology. She is best known for her two memoirs Immortelles: Memoir of a Will-O'-the Wisp (1996) and Sins of the Innocent (2006). The first memoir is about her childhood in a afficher plus French village during and after World War I and the second one is about her wartime ordeals in Nazi Germany. She also wrote children's books including Jannot: A French Rabbit; Nanette: A French Goat; and Grococo: A French Cow. She died on October 19, 2008 at the age of 99.
