Clifford's Noisy Day (Clifford the Big Red Dog… par Jenny Markas
A simple but pleasing story about Clifford trying to find a place to nap. I thought the lessons about irregular plurals -- goose/geese, mouse/mice -- and the repetition worked quite well in the context of the story.
This book sidesteps the battle all readers want to see: Clifford vs. a whale. Who would win? I want to say Clifford if they stay near shore where he can maximize leverage for his jaws and claws, but if the whale plays a strategic game and gets Clifford far from Birdwell Island then it's game over for the big red dog. Or wait, what if the whale is an orca? Clifford the big red smear!
Clifford gets lost for, like, half-a-second in this extremely low-stakes adventure.
