This book already has an excellent review. I too was perplexed by Major Stratton's quick recovery... but more perplexed by the feeling that the book is a sequel to another book that covers the eleven years between the prologue and first chapter, introduces Richard Hardinge to "Jamie", explains their apparently bizarre back story (Jamie dressed in male attire? Richard must marry her immediately to save her reputation? Really?), and last but not least, explains why a woman in 1815 is named Jamie. I can't find any hint of this book's title or for that matter, its existence. Perhaps it was written but not found suitable for publication.… (plus d'informations)

It's easy to read, fast but nothing really impressive in manner of characters or story. Notable that the sex is kept to a bare minimum, making it a nice light read.

Good romance. Good characterization, interesting setting/situation, misunderstandings are the major trope (besides 'I am not worthy') but not too bad. Hugh's certainty that his wounds made him unfit to marry (and the fact that the opinion was shared by at least one parent) felt a little silly as he healed quickly and well...sigh. Maybe he _should_ have rusticated for a while before his friends had him to stay.
