Thanks to City Owl Press for the ARC.

This book and I got off to a shaky start. The reference to ‘row houses’ in London on the first page made me think it was going to be full of Americanisms despite the UK setting. Seraphina’s voice also seemed a little too archaic to me - more Victorian Gothic than WW2. Then in the early chapters, the Burley inhabitants refusal to come right out and tell her there was a serial killer on the loose seemed a bit unrealistic.
But as the book went on I started to forget about these little issues, as the plot dragged me in. Maidana did a good job of setting up the paranormal rules, and of making me suspect pretty much everyone of being the murderer. There were red herrings a-plenty! The conclusion was satisfying, if a little checklist-y. So despite my early concerns, I’m giving this four stars. It gives you what it promises: Gothic atmosphere and a compelling murder mystery plot.… (plus d'informations)

A well written book with an engaging storyline and well developed characters. I felt transported to the English countryside during WWII and fully engaged in solving the mystery of the ghosts that haunt the manor and countryside nearby. I do apologize that my review was delayed by the death of a family member.

Overall, a fun read. I enjoyed following with the mystery and the setting of WWII with a character who could see the dead. That being said, there were a couple of times that I was drawn out of the story by glaring anachronisms. However, even with those moments I would still recommend this book, especially for someone who is looking for a fun, not too intense mystery with some romance.

The Ghosts of Lewis Manor is somewhat misnamed. The manor is actually called All Hallows. That's the only thing that is really off about this book. I thoroughly enjoyed it. It takes place during WWII. There is a lot of misdirection about who is the murderer which keeps you guessing. It's not really scary, it's more of a romance.
