I Picked Up This Book Because: It’s been on my TBR forever.

Media Type: Audiobook

Dates Read: 2/29/24 - 3/2/24
Stars: 4 Stars
Narrator(s): James Patrick Cronin

The Characters:

Aladdin
Jasmine
Jafar, Abu, Genie, Morgana, The male bestie whose name I cannot remember

The Story:

I do not know what I was expecting but this was not it. This re-imagining where Jafar gets the lamp and takes over agrabah is intense. Yet in between the sneaking, villainy and fighting we still get a love story.

Loved this twist! It continues the story in a way and also allows Ariel to be more independent.

Okay, I’m going to be honest, I really didn’t like this book. It isn’t completely horrible, which is why I’m not giving it a one star instead, but I hated this. Mostly, I think I hated it because of the characters. I hated Belle’s mother and I hated Belle, which pains me to say since I love Belle in the movie. In this book, however, I just found them insufferable, and since they were the main characters, it just kind of ruined it for me.

I’ll admit, I was surprised by this one. I never really liked Sleeping Beauty all that much growing up, but this definitely changes things. I got to see Aurora, not as the sweet innocent girl I always imagined, but more as a cynical one. While there is nothing wrong with sweet innocent girls and in general I do like them, it was just different in a good way to see Aurora’s character this way. I do wish I loved Aurora and Phillip’s relationship more in the book than I actually did, but it’s okay, it’s cute. Definitely recommend.… (plus d'informations)
