This was a great book. I could not put it down. The intrigue and suspense kept me on the edge of my seat for the whole book. I will definitely be getting more Jack Lynch books now that he is on my radar.

I read this book from Netgalley. It is a reissue of a book originally published in 1981.
Peter Bragg is an ex-newsman, ex-police who is presently working as at Private Detective. He is hired by Armando Barker to find out who is sending threatening cards and shooting at him. Bragg witnesses the death of Barker's hired muscle at a local hotel after being stabbed with an ice pick and thrown from the 18th floor of the hotel. The icepick has the name of a small town outside of LasVegas on it and Bragg finds out that Barker used to live there. He wants to go and see if there is a tie in to what is happening in SanFrancisco. Barker does not think there is any reason to go but Bragg wins out and off he goes. In the style of a hard boiled PI, Bragg solves the mystery and gets the girl. I am looking forward to the other 6 in the series.… (plus d'informations)

This is my third Bragg book and I have enjoyed them all. Peter Bragg is an P.I. in SanFrancisco. This is a noire detective story that is sure to appeal to those who love the old-time, hardboiled detectives. His previous life found him as a reporter in Seattle where he met and married Lorna. Several years later they divorced and she returned to Seattle. Peter gets a call from an old friend Benny who needs his help. Benny is a freelance writer who is receiving threatening phonecalls, has had his brakelines cut and been shot at. He has no idea who it is and why it is happening. The police do not seem very interested in helping Benny. Bragg hops on a plane to help out his friend. He runs into his ex-wife at dinner and they pick up where they left off. As usual there is more to the mystery than meets the eye and Bragg ends up following threads that may or may not have ties to the case. Once I started this book, I did not want to put it down until I finished. Brash books is reissuing this series for all the new detective readers out there and it is definitely one they should pick up.

I want to thank Brash Books and Net Galley for providing me with this opportunity and free e-galley in exchange for an honest review.

This is the second in the re-issued, Peter Bragg series. I received this copy from Netgalley in exchange for an honest reveiw.

When I first started reading it, I was not sure if it was as good as the first one, but once I got into, I could not wait to finish it. These books are your old school Private Eye, who is hired to solve a seemingly simple situation (in this case a missing person) but it turns out to be just the tip of the iceberg.

Bragg is hired by TV personality, Janet Lind to find her missing brother, Jerry, who works for North Coast Insurance Investigators. As he begins to investigate the claim that Jerry was working on it starts to converge with another claim from the same company. Bragg follows the leads and ends up helping with a search and rescue of a boy and his father whose plane has crashed. It turns out that they are trying to find out about a missing relative. The Detective they are looking for has been investigating the same crime, or at least it started out that way. Once again Bragg is beaten up, almost killed and meets a girl. Of course he solves the crime, finds out about the missing person and takes down bad guys. I did not figure out who done it, which makes it a great read for me. Bragg is a likable and believable character with real flaws and talents. I am really enjoying this series and recommend it to anyone who loves that mystery, detective, noire genre. Looking for the next one.… (plus d'informations)
