I am so excited to read the third and final book in the ASCENDING ANGEL ACADEMY series. There are some lovely poems included at the start of each section of the book. The focus in this book is on Jo, Alicia and Nisha. Jo and Alicia are able to communicate telepathically, while Nisha is not, which causes her to feel left out and jealous. In order to try to gain telepathic powers like her friends, she turns to a group with dark powers, who take her into their fold. There’s a lot going on in KEYS TO ETERNITY, including a visit from Romanian transfer students who play in the school’s orchestra and will be joining the gang for a special winter recital. But can they be trusted? Author Lali A Love writes gorgeous YA Fantasy that takes her characters across time and space. I loved the scenes with Roma, Alicia and Jo where we went to Mu and spent time in animal forms. There were some fun surprises and I loved the way the series ended on such an uplifting note.

I received a complimentary copy of Keys to Eternity from the author. This is my honest and voluntary review.

I really enjoyed this second book in author Lali A Love’s young adult sci-fi fantasy series. Roma has been captured by the Draco Lizzies, evil beings who want to enslave Gaia and drain its life source. She is able to communicate telepathically with Jo, and will need to help her try to find a lost magical artifact—the Blade of Truth while her class is on a school field trip to the Canary Islands. I really enjoy the characters in this book and the positivity of the writing. All of the characters in Jo’s Ascending Angel Academy high school are struggling with different issues that teens will relate to, and they are written diversely. Daphne is an assault survivor who struggles with issues of body image and weight. Flynn has had issues with addiction in the past but I really liked the therapy scenes he had especially. Theo is transgender and has struggled with self-harm. All of these issues are handled in a positive way. No one likes their new teacher, Miss Rolland, who is one of the chaperones on the trip to the Canary Islands. I loved the great descriptions as Jo and Roma work together to find the missing Blade, and also rescue a classmate who has gone missing. This was a terrific book I highly recommend for YA lovers!… (plus d'informations)

In The De-Coding of Jo, Jo has recently experienced terrible trauma after the abduction and torture of her mother. She’s now dealing with nightmares and sometimes turning to other substances to help cope. One thing I really loved about this book was how this fantasy ensemble cast was dealing with current day issues many teens face. Issues of sexuality, identity and acceptance. Anxiety and mental health. With each new character that was introduced (Jo, Nisha, Zaxen, Reyes, Daphne, Flynn) I found myself falling in love with the story a little more. Jo and her friends accidentally unleash a demonic evil that has been contained beneath their school—and one by one, her classmates are possessed. I particularly loved the strong role music played in this novel, both classical and modern, and what a positive and affirming book this would be for readers of all ages.

“Heart of a Warrior Angel” grabbed me from the first page with an all-too relatable tale of abuse and survival that spanned several continents. I really love books with interesting characters and fascinating backstories and this one had both in spades! Mira grows up in her father’s house in Tblisi, Georgia, the favorite daughter… a little too favored. She rebels and begins to date Dragon, and soon finds herself pregnant by him. In a battle between an overly domineering father and boyfriend, the women are caught in the middle and abused, and Mira, and her daughters Lilac and Jasmine are no exception. The young family moves to Jerusalem for a time, and then eventually immigrates to Canada. I loved the detail of this novel present in each setting, from the streets of Tblisi, to the saltwater seas of Israel, to the new family’s experiences opening a deli in Canada. Lilac’s painful childhood was so vividly cast for the reader, from sneaking into the movies to see Bambi, to needing to steal clothes to have something clean to wear, to an arranged marriage her father tries to set up when she was only sixteen. Lilac is fiercely protective of her three younger sisters, wanting to shelter them from her father’s abuse. Lilac is bright and determined, forging a future and career for herself and always thinking of her sisters and mother before herself, even as she's trapped with Dragon.

After Lilac and her mother and sisters are forced to confront their father one terrible day, and their lives change forever, Lilac begins the next stage of her spiritual journey. I loved seeing her strength and resilience as she undertook a path of self-discovery and peace and moved forward to live a beautiful and fulfilling life despite her father’s abuse.
