Gil Loescher was an expert on refugees and had been severely injured in the bombing of the UN building in Bagdad. Sadly, he passed away just as this book was about to be published.

Although the book provides a good introduction to the topic of refugees, this reader felt that the topic treatment was too sketchy to fully understand. Nevertheless, it provides plenty of value. For example, the book begins with a definition of terms used for migrants with a brief history of the UN agencies and conventions that address the refugee problem. He also provides some quantitative information about how many refugees there are. The best chapters are toward the end as he describes the variety of agencies that work with refugees and notes what needs to be improved.… (plus d'informations)
