A simple story for a beginner reader.

A unicorn desperately wishes he had wings, and wanders about the natural world looking longingly at butterflies, birds, etc. Then one day he comes across a winged horse who is injured...

This book was okay. I felt like the ending where the unicorn suddenly has wings out of nowhere felt forced and even my 9-year-old niece was wondering how that happened. Also, and maybe it was just my mood while reading it, but I wasn't super thrilled about a book in which the main character basically just whines the whole time about what he doesn't have instead of focusing on what he *does* have -- and then in the end just gets the thing he wanted and learns nothing.

The illustrations are quite lovely and fit well with a story about magical creatures.

"I wish I had wings." The white unicorn can heal wounds with his horn. He can make rainbows. But what he really wants is to fly. So he sets off on a quest--past birds and butterflies--to find wings of his own. A charming Step 2 title with a ton of girl appeal.
