The New Cambridge Modern History, Volume 7, the Old… par J.O. (Editor) Lindsay
This was the latest volume in the freshest treatment of European history at the time I read it. It was quite a change of pace from the 19th Century romantic treatment I had absorbed earlier. Instead of Kings and wars there was a goodddeal more economic information than I was used to. I understand that there has been considerable rewriting of this material in the decades since.
