Courte biographie
Drue Leyton, born Dorothy Elizabeth Blackman, was an American actress living in Paris with her French husband Jacques Tartière and working for the Voice of America and Paris Mondial radio at the outbreak of World War II. She chose to stay and join the French Resistance and, at her small farmhouse near the capital, sheltered and aided the escape of Allied airmen and hid arms and ammunition from the Germans. She was arrested by the Gestapo in 1942 but was released from an internment camp after using her acting skills to successfully fake a severe illness. She published a memoir, The House Near Paris: An American Woman's Story of Traffic in Patriots, in 1946.
