This fifth installment in the series is mostly about Angela and her wedding. It was quite memorable, considering a family member drops dead at the reception. Now Carrie feels compelled to find out who poisoned the good doctor and why. There is more than one suspect, but should she follow the money or was the deceased involved in an extramarital affair? Another murder narrows the search but adds to the dilemma. I like the characters and library setting, including the ghost who haunts it, but this mystery was too little about the murder and too much about a bride on the verge of being a bridezilla. Maybe when everyone gets married the series will settle back to the library, Evelyn the ghost, and Smokey Joe the cat.… (plus d'informations)

Carrie is bogged down trying to find the perfect venue for her wedding, but it doesn’t stop her from investigating a murder . . . or two. The owner of an art gallery is found murdered, and it’s not long before Carrie’s sleuthing, aided by her PI husband and the library’s resident ghost, unearths some terrible secrets about the deceased. Forged paintings and even the underworld figure in the not-so-cozy mystery. It’s another fine addition to the series. The setting of a much loved library in a quaint town is well described, and the characters are quite likable (well, most of them) and seem like real people. It would a wonderful place to live, even with the occasional murder.… (plus d'informations)

Homeless people are a concern for the librarians, who want to allow them access to the library when they have to leave the shelter where they sleep. But because some of their regular patrons are upset by a ruckus caused by a couple of the younger homeless men, they want to find them a place to be during the day, but that is proving to be difficult task. Adding to Carrie’s distress is the death of one her coworkers, a person much disliked by many people. It’s murder for sure, but list of possible perpetrators is lengthy. Carrie is determined to get to the bottom of this case, but keeping herself from harm is going to be difficult. It’s another entertaining installment in this well-written and imaginative series. The characters are interesting, especially the library’s ghost, and the mystery is a good one.… (plus d'informations)

Carrie’s long-lost dad shows up, not in a traditional way but by breaking into her cottage. There are some tense moments between them, since Carrie cannot forget all the hurt he has caused her, nor the fact that he is a thief. In fact, recovery of some stolen gems is what brought him to her town now. But the murder of one of his cohorts turns everything upside down, and she wonders who her father really is. This cozy is enhanced by the resident library ghost who offers advice to Carrie as well as information about the residents of the town. Well-written and quite interesting, this mystery is entertaining and the characters are believable, even the ghostly one who seems as real as when she was alive.… (plus d'informations)
