My friend gave me this book because the dedication had my name in it, and I had never seen my name in a book before. (Even if it was just the dedication.) I held onto it for years never reading it, not knowing what it was about. I finally read this year, going in completely blind. I did not expect magical realism and the realities of dealing with the aftermath of disaster. This book had friendship, emotions, and just a bit of magic.
