I was sucked into the story within the first few pages. Alexandra is a deputy DA in Los Angeles County. Her father is the District Attorney. As she is visiting her mother in the hospital, a nurse tells her Erica Collins, another patient wants to talk to her. Erica tells a tale of her ex-husband killing his best friend and the District Attorney, her father was bribed to cover it up. Alexandra is in a real quandary. Is this woman telling the truth? Is she trying to get back at a man who divorced her and married someone else? Her father is up for reelection is Erica trying to derail the election? Alexandra begins to dig to come up with the truth.… (plus d'informations)

One of the best books I have read in quite awhile, really enjoyed it - will be looking for her other two books.

The story follows similar vein to Connelly's and Patterson's; we have a murder/crime mystery and a talented deputy DA who doesn't give up easily.

Well paced, well written and thoroughly enjoyable.

Couldn't stand to put it down, ended up reading all 380 pages in one evening.

I previously had read Mimi Latt's Ultimate Justice and really enjoyed it so went back and bought her first two books, this one, Powers of Attorney is her first book.

The story follows three female attorneys and one murder case, it started off slowly however once the murder had taken place the intrigue and subplots took off and it became an enjoyable read. Some murder-mysteries reflect mundane life, others are too fanciful to be anything but fiction - this one was somewhere in between, certainly not a mundane case but verging on the fanciful territory all things said and done.

There's several unexpected revelations towards the end of the book and the eventual culprit isn't entirely obvious until near the end - lots of murky circumstances like real life.

One thing to note is the book does contain quite a few sex scenes, not to the point of an erotic novel - they are only isolated scenes, but nonetheless it does make the book not so suitable for younger readers. However I guess younger readers probably wouldn't have much interest in a legal mystery novel anyway.

Absolute and utter shite. Apart from the dreadful proof reading which allowed so many anomolies to get into print - i.e. at one point a certain character was twenty-three years old, at another she was seventeen, the author had a terrible case of mixing her metaphors - Gladiators with guns??? I despair at the reviews given and am so glad I can only afford to buy books at op shops. My son and I normally share books but I told him I wouldn't inflict him with this one. Does anyone have a theory, or know why, such books are reviewed favourbly by reviewers?… (plus d'informations)
