Eve Langlais

I simply love this series :) Eve Langlais is a perfect author if you are looking for some fun. It's both a crazy space adventure and a sexy romance and it's really funny. It's a bit like a superhero story - the scene with soldiers trying to kill Aramus and bullets jumping out of his body was priceless :) My favourite book in the series is still "F814" (book two in the series, I love it!), but "Aramus" is right behind it. Quickie Review (May Contain Spoilers)

This was recommended through a friend, although originally I had this on a TBR for winter themed fantasy to read. I don't get a chance to read too much Eve Langlais, but this series has definitely held me intrigued. I did put this one off for a bit because I am not really a fan of assassin heroines, they just don't seem to resonate as well as male assassins do. However, pretty quickly I was swept away into this story and I do want to give much of the credit to the talented narrators. They really made this story just come alive so quickly for me. I also was so fascinated with how this author really built this story here. The plot was fascinating and the hero was a complete DREAM BOAT! I love me some sexy barbarians and he really embraced the role.

Now for the heroine. I wish I could have really loved this book. I wanted to love it, but the heroine was the type of character that you struggle with resonating with. You see what she has gone through but to be honest her character development was lacking. And she had a certain amount of glee when it came to killing, to the extent that you just don't see in assassin heroes. It shouldn't have been something she was excited to actually do. You also see minimal growth on her end which was disappointing. But despite the issues I had with this heroine, it was a fun time with this story and guarantee you will be laughing all over the place.… (plus d'informations)

Jack O' Lion is a delightful Halloween treat. If you are looking for a short fun story to read for Halloween, then I highly recommend it. There isn't a ton of depth to this story, but it's very sexy and entertaining. I really loved the elements that bring this book together. We have shifter lions, grumpy heroes, curses, and witches. I found the Halloween connections to be really fantastic to delve into. It was also fun seeing these two trying to bring down the curse. Added some mystery and intrigue to the story that was most enjoyable.… (plus d'informations)

Kind of strange.
The romantic relationships develop way too fast and don't feel believable but don't get me wrong, this is not erotica. There aren't any "proper" sex scenes at all. It might be that the book is just simply too short.

The denial of the supernatural by the MC is very strange and unbelievable. Very few of her actions make any kind of sense.

Finally, the book presents a really fucked up view of morality. The protagonists celebrate running around and just murdering people they think are bad for society and even those they just don't like and the book never gives off the impression this might be anything but commendable.… (plus d'informations)
