Courte biographie
Margaret Dorothea Mortenson graduated from Wheaton College in 1925 and taught for a year before marrying Kenneth Landon. In 1927, the couple became Presbyterian missionaries to Thailand. During the next ten years, Margaret Landon raised her first three children while running a mission school. In her extensive reading about the country, she learned about Anna Leonowens, the governess to the Thai (Siamese) royal family in the 1860s. When the family returned to the USA in 1937, Margaret began writing articles and then researching material for a book on Mrs. Leonowens, which was published as "Anna and the King of Siam" in 1944.

My copy has lost the pretty jacket but after being printed more than fifty years ago I would have been surprised to see it. Enjoyable read! *further review pending*

Never Dies the Dream is a dramatic novel set in East Asia.

India Severn, an American missionary in Siam, struggles to remain true to herself and maintain her mission school against the machinations of her jealous colleagues and the sabotage of those she is trying to help.

Never Dies the Dream is a very interesting and well-written story, but it is so depressing I would never want to read it again. Everyone around India is constantly trying to cheat, use, or destroy her; it was just too irritating and too much like real life.… (plus d'informations)

I really wanted to like this book, but I just couldn't get into it. The author's style of writing bored me.
