The Mystery in the locked library is a solve-it-yourself- Mystery. The book interacts with the reader by giving clues to and asking comprehensive questions in which to solve the mystery. The reader not only must read but pay attention to the illustrations as well in order to solve the mystery. This book can be used in the classroom to build on literacy comprehension skills and the use of inductive reasoning.
In this easy-to-follow mystery, Meg and her history class are in a reproduction medieval castle when an actual artifact is stolen. Meg solves the mystery, and, as we read along, we are asked questions that prompt us to see if we can figure out the answer as well. This is sure to engage young readers.
