Heavily sensationalized survey of the period, hitting the initial sucess heavily, quite sketchy for the end.
Harold Lamb was a prolific popularisor of the more sensational historical periods. He was quite popular in the 1930's, 40's and 50's. if you are looking for a quick dash through the period covered by the historian Procopius' "Secret history" written in the opular style of the last century, here it is. Quite a fun read but, not an insightful book.

“I enjoyed it, lots of information that was new to me such as Ghengis Kahn’s original name, that he was not always at the head of a marching army, and that he conquered most of Asia. It was a really nice book. In my opinion, he was more successful than Alexander the Great.”

Az én tapasztalatom szerint a legtöbb életrajz egy kicsit elfogult, ez itt is igaz, de egyáltalán nem éreztem, hogy ez túlzottan zavaró lett volna. A könyv kellően olvasmányos volt, ebben nyilván sokat segített, hogy Nagy Sándor rövid élete nagyon mozgalmas volt.… (plus d'informations)
