James Howard Kunstler is the author of four nonfiction books and eleven novels. He has participated in TED conferences and lectured at Harvard, Yale, Columbia, Cornell, MIT, and many other colleges, and has appeared before professional organizations that include the American Institute of afficher plus Architects, the American Psychological Association, and the National Trust for Historic Preservation. Perhaps a bit over the top, but entertaining for it, Kunstler does not like what happened to the american built landscape. His point is easy to recognise in many situations but alternatives seem less convincing.

Many people view the author as Chicken Little. However, if even half of the events he describes come to pass, life on earth after oil supplies are depleted will never be the same - and I'm not so sure that's a bad thing. In any event, we all should begin to think (and act) as though his predictions just might be true. Prepare for the worst and hope for the best. ...and plant a garden in your back yard. In fact, Barbara Kingsolver's book ANIMAL , VEGETABLE, MIRACLE is a good pairing to read with this one.… (plus d'informations)

While I can’t disagree with those reviewers who take this book to task for its manifest flaws, particularly Mr. Kuntsler’s regrettable use of barnyard epithets in an otherwise distinguished popularization of a mildly abstruse historical and sociological topic, I think this book remains timely and important twenty-four years after its initial publication.
