Like other books I have read by Nicki Koziarz, Flooded is down to earth, challenging, and enlightening all wrapped up in one. In this book, the author offers transparency to her readers about her own struggles and challenges in life. She includes stories that range from humorous to heartbreaking to emphasize the points she is trying to make. I really enjoyed her use of the account of Noah in the Bible to offer real life advice on wrestling with doubt in our own lives. It was also apparent that she thoroughly researched the content for her book.

I was given a copy of this book by the author and Netgalley in exchange for an honest review. All opinions expressed are entirely my own.

Oh wow! This book came into my life at just the right time! Life’s circumstances and suffering had me slip into a spiritual low. My vibrant strong faith has faltered. I found myself doubting God helping me in areas of my life. This made my suffering greater and I was ashamed of my spiritual walk.
The “unknowns” in my life had not only “flooded” me but almost washed me away. What a blessing this book is! I know the stories in the Bible are examples to us in how to deal with trial, but I never ever thought of looking at Noah’s experiences in that way! The book is divided into 5 decisions you need to make when faced with a crisis to be a conqueror.
Ms. Koziar’s writing style is one that makes you feel she is writing directly to you, very personable. The Lord has brought me through many hard things in my life, but I realized that instead of it being a strengthening lesson, there has been some remaining doubt for what is to come. I realized doubt is sin, because I am not trusting God can take care of me. She made me dig deep and look at what was really there in my heart and mind. The author does it in such a way that you are guided into it and inspired, not beaten over the head and made to feel guilty. The words jumped off the page at me, requiring a highlighter, so inspiring! Another part I liked about the books is that she gives you “handles” to your wheelbarrow. She doesn’t just point out the issues but presents ways to overcome them. You aren’t left hanging. Well written and easy to read but you will want to really study it!
I received this book from Baker Publishing Chosen Books in exchange for an honest review. The opinions stated are my own.

This post was begun and then the book was in my mailbox. The timing of its arrival was not lost on me. The day had been emotionally overwhelming, the one year anniversary of the pandemic was duly noted, and I was tired of waiting.

God's timing is awesome. Life has been difficult at this time and then this book came on my radar to help me out. Flooded: The Best Decisions to Make When Life is Hard and Doubt is Rising aids us when we face these hard times doubt about our faith is rising.
Flooded is a book filled with encouragement which helps to fortify my faith as I found the five decisions to make in these times.
I felt like God encompassed me with each page of this book I read. I most highly recommend this book to have on hand during those difficult times.
Flooded was given to me by Bethany House Publishing in exchange for my honest review. All opinions stated are my own.

I have always loved the story of Leah and Rachel. Part of me loves the romance of it. Jacob sees Rachel, immediately knows she’s the one and works fourteen years for her hand. Fourteen years! But the more practical part of me has always sympathized with Leah. What must life have been like being the less beautiful daughter of Laban, the lesser loved wife of Jacob? And what kind of dynamic did these two sisters have?

That’s the heart of Nikki Koziarz’s Why Her? As women, we have a tendency to look at others and wonder “Why don’t I have that…” Doesn’t matter what your “that” is: family, home, job, etc. There’s most likely something you’ve coveted in a friend, a family member, a coworker, etc.

Through the story of Leah and Rachel, Koziarz uncovers six truths to help us with the temptation of comparison. Truths which help identify the root of the problem such as you don’t see the whole story and it’s okay to not be okay.

Why Her? tackles an issue many women have in this day of posting the best of our lives online through social media. It reminds us that the big picture is in God’s hands.
