Stage Fright by Diane L. Kowalyshyn is a well-written novel and one that grabs your attention right away. It opens with a stage performance and sets the tone well for the rest of the novel. Skye Andrews, the actress on stage has inherited something from her late Aunt, a journal, one that reveals her Aunt's true wishes, to be buried in Scotland. Soon Skye meets a reluctant to-get-involved man, at least with Skye, and from there the story takes off. The author skillfully inserts a paranormal theme, immersing you in a story that is both involved and magical. Truly a captivating story and one that is recommended. Author Diane L. Kowalyshyn made her literary debut with CROSSOVER - the thesis that earned her Master of Fine Arts degree from Seton Hill University – and that served as the first volume of her trilogy CROSS YOUR HEART AND DIE. Not one to rest on her laurels, she subsequently added SKADEGAMUTC: MONSTER IN THE MIRROR, CATCH.22, and now STAGE FRIGHT– a novel that embraces her ‘overwhelming need for happily ever after.’

Diane has discovered the impact of setting the tone of a story in the opening lines and she underscores that gift as this novel begins with a lovers’ quarrel between a Pansy and a Rex that is actually a stage performance in action, then ‘A hush blanketed the theater. Skye Andrews stood on her mark with Pansy Parker’s horror plastered on her face. She froze. The lights dimmed, the curtain dropped, and the applause started. In seconds, stagehands surrounded her and disassembled the set for the second act.’ And how that onstage moment hints at the content to come proves Diane’s skill.

A tightly condensed overview of the plot – ‘Broadway actress Skye Andrews inherits a journal from her soothsaying aunt, and sets her career aside to fulfill her aunt’s final wishes to be buried in the family plot in Kilmarnock, Scotland. Captain Jet Dalry, a recuperating war veteran, helps Skye slice through the cemetery’s red tape. Despite their mutual attraction and her persistence, Jet is a tormented man who repeatedly pushes her away. Skye discovers the journal is enchanted. It reveals how Skye and her aunt lived parallel lives. Under its magical lens, Skye discovers a jealous psychopath is stalking her. Will the mystical unveiling be enough to save the man she loves from certain death?’ The manner in which Skye’s life parallels her deceased aunt’s journal revelations makes for a terrific drama.

Creating visually convincing, credible characters and capturing sensitive moments of drama, Diane Kowalyshyn continues to impress with her talents. Highly recommended.

Catch .22 by Diane L Kowalyshyn's first novel, Crossover earned her a Master's of Fine Arts before its publication. From that point on, this author has succeeded in writing thrilling novels with well-fleshed-out characters. In Catch .22, the opening pages pull you in with a quick entry into the action. A young woman, Renee, has in her position a USB drive that someone quite dangerous wants and will do anything to get. With this heart-pounding scenario, the action builds and the story takes off. With well-crafted characters, at times a stunning plot, and a fast pace this novel captures your imagination and doesn't let go. Clues abound throughout, subtle in fashion; you'll have to hang on and read to the end to figure this one out. Recommended.… (plus d'informations)

Author Diane L. Kowalyshyn made her literary debut with CROSSOVER - the thesis that earned her Master of Fine Arts degree from Seton Hill University – and that served as the first volume of her trilogy CROSS YOUR HEART AND DIE. Not one to rest on her laurels, she subsequently added SKADEGAMUTC: MONSTER IN THE MIRROR, and now she adds CATCH .22 – a novel that embraces her passion for sailing, adventure, travel and intrigue.

Finding writing skills that seduce the readers’ attention with ease is a gift Diane owns, daring to hint at her story before even a Prologue is presented. Open the book, and read ‘As soon as the cable company hooked up his internet, he would send Renee an email, let her know he’d taken a leave. No way in hell he’d tell her it had been forced on him…He placed his cup on the wide armrest when the phone in his pocket trilled…Only two people had this number - his CO and Renee. “Hello.” “Is this Sloan?” The caller was neither. ”Who wants to know?” he asked. “I’m Wayne Conolley,” the gruff voice said. “Your sister and I have been dating for the last little while. I own New England Air.” Sloan took a swig of coffee. “Renee told me about you.” Maybe his sister had finally worked up the courage to say yes to his marriage proposal. She said he’d asked. “Maybe you should put her on the line.” “I wish I could,” Wayne said, his voice breaking. “There’s no easy way to tell you this. There’s been an accident.” Sloan’s breath caught and bile lurched into his throat. “She’s dead.” Subtle - many keys to the story are there!

A tightly condensed overview of the plot – ‘Sloan Picard, a Special Forces sniper on medical leave, treks to Boothbay Harbor, Maine, to bury his sister. Unease over her demise prompts him to accept a pilot's job with New England Air where Julia Connelly, the owner's daughter and office manager, becomes his enigma and obsession. Sloan clears NEA of transporting illegal contraband into the States from South America. When the Cessna he's piloting is sabotaged forcing him to make an emergency landing, the narrow escape confirms another suspicion. His sister's death was no accident. Information on a USB drive, points a finger at NEA's largest customer. Sloan and Julia fly the DC3 from Maine's rugged coast to the jungles of Peru where they discover their client runs an illicit escort service-knowledge that turns these savvy hunters into the hunted.’

Vividly painted characters, intriguing sidebars, and breathless pacing makes this adventure/romance soar. Diane Kowalyshyn is rapidly rising on the ladder of fine authors. Highly recommended.
