Melvin wil zijn muts terug is een mooi prentenboek over behulpzaamheid. Op een leuke manier wordt er verteld hoe belangrijk het is om andere mensen te helpen en om iets over te hebben voor iemand anders. Bijzonder zijn kan op verschillende manieren en dat laat dit boek mooi doorschijnen.

"Harold loves to wear his woolly hat...When Harold wears his woolly hat, he knows he is a special bear - different from all the other bears."
But then a crow snatches Harold's woolly hat! Harold tries to bargain with the crow and to make trades, but nothing works. When Harold at last climbs up to crow's nest, he sees three baby birds sleeping cozily inside his hat, which he of course allows them to keep. "Even without my woolly hat, I am still a very special bear," he reassures himself - and the reader agrees.
Illustrations are pencil, pen, and watercolor, manipulated digitally.

Still, I didn't think the book was anything special. The illustrations weren't my favorite....
