Yekhezkel Kotik

This is the first English translation of this book, which is vol.1 of Kotik's memoirs. There is a detailed introduction. This work was written & published in 1913, and it covers the years 1850-1875, approximately. Sholom Aleichem thought highly of this volume but not of the subsequent volumes (which I assume have not been translated.) The author was from a well-off family, and he had a big & complicated family & network of relations so I don't know how typical his life was. The memoir is interesting but I didn't find it absorbing, and mostly my emotions weren't touched.… (plus d'informations)
