A Legacy from Tenerife par Noah Webster
Number eight in the Jonny Gaunt series. An agent with the "Queen's and Lord Treasurer's Remembrancer" department in Edinburgh, Gaunt is charged with reviewing and authenticating claims on a deceased's estate. If heirs cannot be found, the estate reverts to the Crown. Gaunt untangles a claim by distant Canadian relatives as well as the deceased's tangled fraud and money laundering schemes.
Blitzed through this in an afternoon. Started with Good Morning Yesterday and was hooked. Really impressed how economically it tells the stories. Not a word wasted yet the individual tales are often complex and atmospheric - you really get the feeling this is authentic 1970s Glasgow as described by people who knew it. The book's jointly authored by series screenwriter Edward Boyd and prolific author/journalist Bill Knox. I suspect Knox did most of the heavy lifting for the TV-tie in, and I'll certainly be checking out more of his work on the strength of this.… (plus d'informations)
An old but good series from Bill Knox. Jonathon Gaunt's life stays exciting as he travels to Portugal to recover some ancient Celtic plate. Murders, spies, and a lovely "fado" singer enliven his trip.
Inspector Thane and Sergeant Moss investigate a hit and run which turns out to be deliberate murder involved with a car-theft racket.
