I'm not liking all the trash talking of pit bulls. I don't like Chihuahuas but I don't bad mouth them, all dogs have a place.

It was a godsend that (after weeks of starts and stops) I finally finished it. The description of this novel indicated that it would be a mystery of some sort, but the reader knows "whodunnit" almost from the outset, and I couldn't bring myself to care about any of the characters. Indeed, I had such a hard time with this book that I couldn't remember what had happened between setting it down and picking it up again.

So I am firm believer that in the realm of audio books, the narrator/voice can completely make or break the "listen". The story can be okay but the audio book end up being great due to the narration and the story could be stellar but the audio book really HORRIBLE if the voice doesn't match.
So...in the case of "Godsend", I beg the author, PLEASE do not narrator anymore of your own books. You might be saving money but your killing your "brand" and future sales. To be honest, I am being generous with my rating and the reason for that is: the narrator was so boring and "hohum" that my mind wandered during many portions of the audio book. Since there is no way I would sit through it again, I wanted to be fair...the story might be good if I read it...and not give it a 1-star rating.
I dislike giving reviews like this...I know writing/publishing is extremely hard to do...but I promised to be honest. My words to Mr. Knister, "Just because you can doesn't mean you should" and this is referring to you doing your own narration.
