It was a very short story that I didn't see the point of.

Plot:
Alice is an orphan with a gift: she has a pair of “invisible hands” with which she can move objects, also through solid matter and with which she can generally “twist” time and space. When she turns 18, she is approached by a group of twisters who invite her to join them – and her life is never the same again.

I don’t think I’ve ever read a book that made me think “for fuck’s sake” as much as this book. It is not only poorly written, but continuously moves into offensive territory. The first time it made me not want to read it anymore was about 3 pages in – but somehow, I just couldn’t stop. There were so many points where I thought, “no, that’s it. That little piece of sexism/rape apology rhetoric/stupidity is the straw to break the camel’s back. I’ll just close the doc and that will be it.” And when I came to the next point where I thought just that, I somehow had moved 10 pages on. And then it was just over, without a real ending.

Thought provoking as a novel and would make a great play. 5 Professors get together for bi-weekly meetings and one week they bring in Brujo where they expect to break down his thinking but instead find themselves becoming more and more enlighted. Not a bad way to spend a day in the sun.

This tale was vaguely reminiscent of the Castaneda series on shamanism that was popular in the 1970’s. The conversion of
Non-believer’s to believers being the core of the tale. As with anything that proselytizes, I quickly found my attention wandering and before I knew it I had let a month pass before I picked it back up. I finished it, however, I may not be the right audience for this book. Whatever the deep seated reasons are, I wouldn’t recommend this for the general, or casual reader. That being said I would guess that there would be an audience for this book it is just a matter of finding that niche.… (plus d'informations)
