Sadly no illustrations, except for the cover, frontspiece of Mary aboard ship, looking back at Scotland, and then the standard author photo/bio on the back cover. An ex-library book with the soft old paper, plastic cover and historic provenance of its checkout history and the library it once belonged to. Book crack for the collector, in other words.

Ends when Mary is a widowed eighteen year old, about to go to England. Not surprising, since this one is for younger readers and the truth is rather depressing. Probably it is hard enough to make kids read history books as it is. Couldn't resist picking this up at the thrift when the books were half off, although I don' t really intend to read this one, but rather to hoard it in my collection in case anyone ever wants me to say all I know about the great panoply of Tudor history.… (plus d'informations)
