My first read from author Britney King was so good that I went out & purchased the rest of the series upon completion. Enough said!

This is surprisingly my first book by Britney King and I am not even sure how I came across this book but I am so thrilled I did. I love a good thrill ride and this checks all the boxes for me. It is different well crafted and is fast paced and enjoyable.

George is the primary caretaker for his mentally ill wife. That kind of responsibility does not make a good environment for finishing a book. This story starts off with George in trouble with his publisher. His drinking problem made me wonder how unreliable of a narrator he would be. Liam is introduced as 'the book doctor', a well-respected and charismatic guy with a reputation for getting results. Together they are tasked with finishing the book George has been procrastinating on and rebuilding George's brand and author status. I have to be fully honest I was not a fan of Liam as a character. Not because there was anything wrong with the character, I just found him self absorbed and a bit annoying. I have read many opinions of Britney King books before I picked this up and I have to say for the most part this was a crazy train wreck that I couldn’t keep my eyes off of. I have already recommended it to two people.

I have to say I am a person who needs bloody books between her romance novels and this novel has it all. The creative deaths in this book kept me turning the pages trying to figure out what would happen next. I love being able to just read books like this and being entertained to the point I forget to put the book down.

The beginning was rough. Do not read if you are sensitive. After reading the book my mind was blown by the ending. Was not expecting the self-destructive behavior. The rest of the book is intense and fast paced. Loved it. If you’re a fan of reading about murders and don’t mind the violence-pick up this read. I plan to go back and read more books by Britney King.

Did I enjoy this book? Did it confuse me? Yes, to both of those questions now my big dilemma what do I say without giving away too much. 4 stars for Jude and Kate the killer couple. Jude a hitman, Kate a serial killer, so I guess it is only fitting that they are married. A very awesome book cover, great font & writing style. A fairly well written psychological thriller book. It was not always very easy for me to read or follow but there was never a dull moment. Each chapter is told either from Kate or Jude’s point of view which makes it interesting to see how they are both seeing their situation at any given point. The story as a whole is about how they met, how they fell in love and who they killed in between. I will say that I did find Jude’s chapters a bit more engaging in the beginning and then toward the middle of the book it was the opposite and that was an interesting turn of events for me.

They say you aren’t supposed to love killers but both Kate and Jude are likable characters and I found myself in part routing for them and in part waiting for one to kill the other which was amusing to say the least. I also think this book would be what Dexter the tv show would have been if Dexter had married Hannah and I am here for it. The only reason this did not get a 5 star for me is because I was disappointed that Kate lost her baby even though the guy who hurt her died in the end. I will also say that this book is the second book I have read by Britney King if you are looking for something else The Book Doctor was also an amazing read.

I can’t stop myself from shuddering when I read the above quote from Britney King’s latest heart-racing, spine-tingling psychological thriller, 𝘍𝘦𝘷𝘦𝘳 𝘋𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘮!

It’s 1962 and for wife and mother, Grace, an unimaginable nightmare is taking shape. She’s a SAHM of two kids and recently gave birth to her son. The demands are relentless, especially when your newborn has colic and your husbands work keeps him away, leaving her all alone with 3 young children to care for.

Texas State Lunatic Hospital is were she now resides and her husband and two eldest children are missing. Grace has no idea where they are and if she had anything to do with their disappearance? Police suspect foul play on her part?

In the 60’s, apparently Lunatic Hospitals or Insane Asylum’s, could do anything they wanted to patients even if it meant cutting into there brain! Completely terrifying and horrific!

Thankfully, as Grace was spiraling further down a new “crazy, crazy” roommate joined her. Elizabeth happened to become her closest ally and gave Grace the strength to fight her way out, even with Elizabeth being a real crazy. I loved how King was able to brilliantly connect two strangers from two very different mentalities and socioeconomic statuses and show how powerful a bond can be formed without prejudice and bias.

Twisted, frightening, disturbing and a book that will stay with me forever.
