The focus is on Ray Kerns experience as field artillery pilot during the Pacific war in the Philippines. The narrative is disjointed. Yet the book was worth reading for the insights I got . Kerns makes the effort to verify his stories and insights by use of footnotes. The reason for interment of Japanese Americans is examined in a footnote on page 292 of the book. The 30 page introduction gives the reader a good overview. 305 pages indexed and footnoted.
